Masood Alam is a dedicated community leader, IT professional, and passionate advocate for education, safety, and social equity, with over 20 years of active service in Don Valley West. Migrated from Dubai, UAE, Masood moved to Canada in 2000, where he has been committed to improving the lives of his fellow residents through leadership roles in local schools, organizations, and his professional career. With a Master of Science with major in Software and Hardware and an LL.B – I from the University of Karachi, Masood’s diverse academic background is complemented by extensive professional experience in IT. As an experienced IT professional, he has worked with major corporations, banks, financial organizations, and global property leaders. As a Professional Manager (P.Mgr.) with the Canadian Institute of Management, Masood brings a wealth of technical and managerial knowledge to his community and leadership roles.
In addition to his professional career, Masood has been a long-time leader in his community, particularly in education. He has served in leadership roles on school councils for all the schools in his neighborhood and is currently the Treasurer for the Marc Garneau Collegiate School Council. His extensive involvement in local education governance has provided him with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by students, parents, and educators, making him well-prepared to serve as Trustee for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Masood has been committed to supporting those in need, beginning with a small group of four volunteers. As the President of the Canadian Community Services Organization (CCSO) since December 2020, Masood has led initiatives to assist low-income and at-risk communities in Thorncliffe and Flemingdon Park, particularly during the pandemic. His leadership has resulted in organizing food drives, wellness programs, annual back to school backpack events, annual holiday toy drives and educational initiatives that have benefited over 7,000 residents, including more than 3,000 children. His efforts have distributed over 150,000 pounds of food in monthly food drives and engaged over 100 volunteers, including 70 youth, in community service and sports, fostering a strong sense of collaboration and support.
